MAKE OUR PARK A PLACE TO PLAY Our neighbourhood park needs a proper basketball hoop. At the moment, the cracked court is rarely used, even though many young people want somewhere active to meet. A hoop would turn an empty space into a welcoming place to practise, play and connect. Some people may worry about noise. However, setting court hours and placing the hoop away from nearby homes would help keep the park peaceful. The council could ask local residents and rangatahi to help choose the best spot. Why wait? A single hoop could support fitness, friendship and community pride. Let’s make the park work for everyone—add a basketball hoop this year.
