The morning boat moved out to sea, its wake unstitched the bay. I slipped beneath the restless blue where sunlight learned to play. A school of silver minnows flashed like coins tossed through the air. Long ribbons of green kelp swayed as if the sea breathed there. A stingray skimmed the sandy floor, a shadow soft and wide. It turned, then vanished in the blue, with nothing left to guide. Back on deck, the wind felt sharp; salt dried upon my skin. I carried home a quieter world and all its depths within.
