Rainforest Adventure Writing

Plan and write an adventurous rainforest story. Use the setting details and writing tools below to build suspense, create vivid images and give your character a problem to solve. There is no single correct story; sample answers show one possible approach.

Collect and shape ideas

Imagine you are exploring a rainforest when a sudden storm changes your plans.

1.Which three details would best help a reader picture a humid, lively rainforest? Choose three.

Warm mist clung to the leaves.
Vines twisted around the tree trunks.
A dry wind swept across the empty dunes.
Bird calls echoed above the canopy.
Frost glittered on the pavement.

2.Match each rainforest creature to the phrase that creates the clearest image.

Plan the adventure

A strong adventure has a clear character, a problem, rising action and a satisfying ending.

6.Plan your story in brief notes. Choose a rainforest location, a main character, a problem, one action the character takes and an ending.

7.Add suspense to this moment with two sentences. Begin: “Ari heard a crack above the trail.”

Sketch a moment from your planned adventure. Add a few labels for details you could describe with words.

Turn your plan into a complete story. Aim for a beginning that establishes the setting, a problem that builds tension and an ending that resolves the adventure.
