At the crack of dawn, Commander Sarah checked her spacesuit one final time. Inside the gleaming rocket, hundreds of buttons and screens flickered with important information. With trembling hands, she fastened her helmet securely.

Far below on Earth, thousands of people gathered to watch the historic launch. In exactly ten seconds, the countdown would begin. With a thunderous roar, the massive engines ignited, sending flames shooting towards the ground.

Higher and higher into the blue sky, the rocket soared like a silver arrow. Beyond the fluffy white clouds, Sarah could see the curve of planet Earth getting smaller and smaller. In the vast darkness of space, millions of stars twinkled like diamonds, welcoming her to their cosmic neighbourhood.

After many hours of travel, the red planet Mars appeared in the distance, waiting for its first human visitor.
