That does not mean we own every part of it. It means we have responsibilities here, too.” Nathan noticed a wrapper caught among the reeds. The three friends picked it up and put it in a rubbish bin. They agreed that caring for a place was one way to show respect for it. As they walked home, Tui felt connected to the stories, the whenua and the people who had helped those connections grow.
