Pike fishing has become increasingly popular amongst teenagers across the UK. Once considered a pursuit for experienced anglers only, pike fishing now attracts young people aged 13-18 who are drawn to the challenge and excitement of catching these impressive predators.

Pike are the largest freshwater fish in Britain, with some specimens reaching over 20kg in weight. They inhabit rivers, lakes, and canals throughout the country. Young anglers appreciate pike fishing because it requires skill, patience, and knowledge of fish behaviour. Unlike other types of fishing, pike fishing often involves active hunting rather than passive waiting.

The growth in youth participation has led to the establishment of junior pike fishing clubs in major cities including Manchester, Birmingham, and Leeds. These clubs provide training, equipment loans, and supervised fishing trips. Safety remains the top priority, with all participants required to complete a basic water safety course.

Text B: Pike Safety Day – Free Youth Event!

Join us on Saturday 15th March 2025 at Whitmore Lake for our annual Pike Safety Day! This free event is designed for young anglers aged 12-17 who want to learn safe pike fishing techniques.

Event Schedule:
9:00am - Registration and welcome
9:30am - Pike biology and behaviour workshop
11:00am - Safe handling and unhooking demonstration
12:30pm - Lunch break (provided)
1:30pm - Supervised fishing session
4:00pm - Event closes

All equipment provided. Participants must bring waterproof clothing and signed parental consent forms. Limited to 30 places – book early to avoid disappointment!
