The Mystery of the Missing Biscuits

Mrs Henderson's famous chocolate chip biscuits had vanished from the cooling rack in the school kitchen. The head cook was baffled – she had left twelve perfectly golden biscuits there at 2:00 PM, and now, just an hour later, only crumbs remained.

"This is most peculiar," muttered Mrs Henderson, adjusting her flour-dusted apron. She noticed tiny paw prints leading from the kitchen window to the cooling rack. The window had been left open to let in the fresh September breeze.

Following the trail of crumbs, Mrs Henderson discovered more clues. Outside the kitchen window, she spotted a family of squirrels gathered beneath the old oak tree. The clever creatures had clearly worked together, forming a chain from the tree branch to the window ledge. One particularly plump squirrel sat contentedly, chocolate smeared around its whiskers.

"Well, I never!" chuckled Mrs Henderson. "I suppose even squirrels appreciate good baking." From that day forward, she always made an extra batch – one for the children and one for her unexpected furry customers.
