Materials Needed

• Students’ mixed media artworks (from previous lessons in the unit)
• Presentation space (table or easel for displaying art)
• Paper and pencils (for note-taking or doodling during peer feedback)
• Feedback sentence starters on index cards (e.g., “I like how you…”, “Your use of color shows…”)

Lesson Breakdown

Time	Activity	Description
0-5 min	Warm-up and introduction	Briefly review the artistic process: brainstorming, creating, and reflecting. Set expectations for respectful listening and peer feedback. Introduce the “Feedback Sandwich” method (positive comment, suggestion, positive comment).
5-15 min	Student 1 Presentation and Peer Feedback	Student 1 presents their mixed media artwork, explaining the story behind it and artistic choices. Student 2 listens actively and provides one positive comment, one suggestion, and one positive comment using sentence starters as support. Teacher facilitates and models language for reflection and feedback.
15-25 min	Student 2 Presentation and Peer Feedback	Repeat the presentation and feedback process with Student 2 presenting and Student 1 providing feedback. Encourage students to ask clarifying questions.
25-30 min	Reflective Wrap-up	Each student shares one new thing they learned about their own artwork through this process and one thing they enjoyed about their peer’s work. Brief teacher-led discussion about the value of reflection and feedback in art and life.
