Lesson Breakdown

1. Warm-up & Review (10 minutes)

• Brief oral review: Quick pop quiz game on subject pronouns and a few AR verb conjugations. (Example: Teacher says the subject pronoun and the verb stem, students shout the correct conjugation.)
• Objective: Activate prior knowledge and prepare students for the day's focus.
• Differentiation: Provide sentence starters or verb charts for struggling learners during the quiz.

2. Direct Instruction & Guided Practice (15 minutes)

• Teacher-led explanation of:
  • Regular AR verb conjugation endings (-o, -as, -a, -amos, -áis, -an) with examples.
  • Four "y" verbs: ir, ser, estar, dar – including focus on ser vs estar differences.
  • Explanation and examples of contractions (al, del) and personal "a."
  • Introduce chapter 3 vocab (clothing, shopping, school supplies) integrated in sentences.
