Lesson Structure

Introduction (10 minutes)

   • Place the groups into the number bond mat's small circles and the total in the big circle.
   • Repeat with different numbers using animated voice and excitement to maintain engagement.

   • Pair students up and give them counting bears and a number bond mat.
   • Show a number on a card and ask pairs to fill their number bond mat correctly using their bears.
   • Walk around and assist as needed, providing feedback and encouragement.

Independent Practice (10 minutes)

1. Number Bond Worksheet:

   • Hand out the "Number Bond Worksheet" and have students use crayons to color in and complete number bonds for different given totals.
   • Allow freedom in choosing their color combinations to foster creativity and joy.

2. Drawing and Coloring:
