Teaching Instructions

I would like a lesson plan for children between 7 and 9 years old about technology, combining games, activities outside the classroom, teamwork and fun. The theme to work on is simple future with going to to make future intentions. These are the objectives I established and which I want to base my lesson plan on: Ss will be able to identify the main aspects of going to in future tense. Ss will be able to describe different technologies in the future Ss will be able to talk about future intentions. Be as creative as possible to make studets engaged to the class.

Lesson Plan

Introduction (20 seconds)

  1. Greet the students warmly and introduce the theme: "Future Tech Adventures"!
  2. Explain: "Today, we are going to explore how technology will change in the future and how to talk about our future intentions using 'going to'."

Activity: Future Tech Game (1 minute, 10 seconds)

  1. Divide the class into three teams.
  2. Provide each team with an index card and a marker.
  3. Announce each team will draw a picture of future technology they think will exist in 2050 (e.g., flying cars, robot friends, smart homes).
    • Prompt: "What is something super cool you think is going to happen in the future because of technology?"
  4. Play lively music softly in the background using a portable speaker for atmosphere.
  5. After 30 seconds or once all teams are done, ask them to hold up their drawings.

Team Sharing: Future Intentions (30 seconds)

  1. Go around and have each team briefly describe their technology and what it is "going to" do.
    • Example: "Our flying car is going to help us travel to school in minutes!"
  2. Correct any misunderstandings on the use of "going to" and provide support where necessary.

Wrap-Up (15 seconds)

  1. Gather the students in a circle.
  2. Encourage them by saying how exciting it is to think of what they’re "going to" see in the future with these technologies.
  3. End with a quick cheer: "We’re going to be amazing future thinkers!"

Assessment

  • Observation: Listen to students during the activity and sharing segments to assess their understanding of "going to" in the context of future intentions.
  • Engagement: Note which students participated and showed creativity in drawing and sharing ideas.

Extension Ideas

  • Outdoor Exploration: Have students look around the playground and imagine how technology could change it in the future.
  • Creative Writing: Let students write a short paragraph about one future technology and how it is going to change the world.

By designing such a concise yet creative lesson plan, teachers can engage students in an interactive exploration of the future and the language used to express that future.
