Lesson Breakdown

1. Introduction & Objective Overview (10 minutes)

• Begin by stating the "I can" objectives on the board.
• Briefly discuss why personal appearance and traits matter in healthcare roles.
• Show a short video or slideshow highlighting healthcare professionals’ appearances and the importance of hygiene and professionalism.

2. Guided Exploration (20 minutes)

• Present the Appearance content using the PowerPoint.
• In small groups (4-5 students), have students discuss why the appearance code might be strict in hospitals. Use guided questions:
  • Why is hygiene critical in patient care?
  • How does appearance influence patient trust?
• Groups share their thoughts aloud.
• Transition to Desirable Traits PowerPoint, cover adaptability, professionalism, and interaction skills.

3. Critical Thinking & Reading (15 minutes)

• Distribute the student worksheet based on the Personal Qualities LessonPlan2.pdf.
