Scarcity and Choices

Overview

In this engaging 30-minute lesson, 2nd-grade students will explore the idea of scarcity and how this concept affected the decisions made by Georgia's earliest Cherokee and Muscogee (Creek) peoples. Students will also reflect on how modern Georgians face similar types of choices today. Through discussions, interactive activities, and reflection, students will build foundational social studies skills aligned with Common Core State Standards (CCSS) by connecting past and present decision-making scenarios.
