Lesson Breakdown

1. Welcome and Introduction (5 minutes)

Greeting & Opening Circle:
Welcome students and sit in a circle. Show a bright, colorful picture of Earth.
Prompt Question:
“Does anyone know what Earth Day is? Why do you think we celebrate the Earth?”
Allow 1-2 children to share.
Brief Story:
Read a simple story about Earth Day (2-3 minutes). Emphasize caring for plants, animals, water, and keeping Earth clean.
Connection to Music:
Explain that music can help us celebrate and show love for the Earth today!

2. Singing Nature Songs (10 minutes)

Song Introduction:
Teach a simple, catchy song like “The Earth is Our Home” to the tune of “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star,” with lyrics about trees, animals, water, and sky.
Sing & Repeat:
Sing together; clap hands to keep beat. Repeat 2-3 times.
Movement Inclusion:
Add gentle hand motions representing trees growing, animals walking, or rain falling.
Learning Outcome:
Practice listening, rhythm, and expressing environmental love through song.

3. Nature Sounds Percussion Activity (10 minutes)

Demonstrate Instruments:
Show each percussion instrument and explain it makes sounds like things in nature (e.g., shakers like rustling leaves, tambourines like raindrops).
Group Soundstorm:
Call out sounds found in nature (birds, raindrops, wind). Students choose instruments and play quietly to mimic those sounds.
Call and Response Game:
Teacher plays a nature sound rhythm, students echo back on their instrument.

4. Creative Earth Movement (10 minutes)

Set the Scene:
Play soft nature sounds (river, birdsong).
Prompt Movement:

Ask children to show how they feel about the Earth with their bodies (happy, calm, energized).
Reflection:
