Plant Parts and Functions
Exploring How Plants Work Grade 3 Science

What Are the Main Parts of a Plant?
Every plant has four main parts Roots - underground Stem - supports the plant Leaves - green and flat Flowers - colorful and smell nice
Roots: The Underground Workers
Roots grow underground They absorb water from the soil They take in nutrients to feed the plant They anchor the plant so it won't fall over
Stem: The Plant's Highway
The stem supports the whole plant It carries water from roots to leaves It transports food throughout the plant It helps leaves reach toward sunlight

Leaves: The Food Factories
Leaves are usually green They use sunlight to make food This process is called photosynthesis They also help the plant breathe

Flowers: The Reproduction Centers
Flowers are often colorful and pretty They attract bees and butterflies They help plants make seeds Seeds grow into new plants
Plant Parts Matching Game
Match each plant part to its job: Roots → Absorb water and nutrients Stem → Transport materials and support Leaves → Make food using sunlight Flowers → Attract pollinators and make seeds
