Find the hour hand (short and thick) Find the minute hand (long and thin) Count the numbers around the clock Point to 12 at the top

Reading Hours
The short hand points to the hour When it points to 3, it's 3 o'clock The long hand points to 12 for o'clock times Let's practice: What time is it?

Time Challenge!
Look at the classroom clock What hour is the short hand pointing to? Is the long hand pointing to 12? What time do you think it is?

Half Past the Hour
Half past means 30 minutes after the hour The long hand points to 6 The short hand is halfway between two numbers 3:30 is 'half past three'

Half Past Practice
Draw the hands for 2:30 Draw the hands for 7:30 Draw the hands for 10:30 Remember: long hand to 6, short hand halfway!
