On Saturday, Jarrah went to the local supermarket with his aunt. At the fruit stand, Kirra was choosing apples with her dad. Jarrah and Kirra knew each other from the neighbourhood basketball team. They waved and talked about their next game. Near the entrance, Arjun, a supermarket worker, was helping an older customer carry a heavy shopping bag. A noticeboard nearby had a flyer asking people to bring non-perishable food to the community centre for a food drive. Jarrah’s aunt said their family could bring a tin of soup. The three children realised that small actions—playing together, helping someone, or sharing food—can connect people and support a community.
