At dawn, Finn and Arjun helped Tui sort the fishing nets beside the harbour. A thick bank of fog drifted across the water, swallowing the distant boats. Tui checked the tide board and frowned. “The tide is turning faster than I expected,” she said. A small orange buoy knocked against the wharf, its rope stretched tight. Finn spotted a flash of silver near the rocks. “A school of kahawai,” he whispered. Arjun was about to step closer, but Tui held up a hand. The wet planks were slippery, and the fog made the edge hard to see. Together, they pulled the nets safely away from the water. Then Arjun used the harbour radio to warn the other fishers about the fast tide and poor visibility. Soon, a horn sounded from a boat beyond the fog. Tui smiled. “They heard us. Careful choices can keep everyone safe.”
