Daily School Journey Writing

Plan and write about travelling to school. Use describing words and a feeling word. Write complete sentences that begin with capital letters and end with full stops. You may use words, phrases, or a quick sketch to plan.

Plan your ideas

Jot down a few words or phrases for each prompt. There is no single right answer.

1.How might you travel to school on a netball tournament day? Choose any that fit, or add your own way.

2.Write two things you might notice on the way to school. Include something you could see or hear.

3.Choose a feeling you might have as you reach school for the tournament. What could make you feel that way?

4.Who might travel to school with you on this day?

Write about the journey

Use your plan to write at least three sentences about getting to school. Try a sentence starter if it helps: “On the way, I notice…” or “When I arrive, I feel…” Remember to use describing words and check your capitals and full stops.

5.Write your own short composition about travelling to school on a netball tournament day. Include what you notice and how you feel.

6.Extension: Add a second paragraph about a part of the school day you might enjoy. Explain why, using a joining word such as because, and, but, or so.
