Dinosaur Story Reading Practice
Read the story, then answer the questions. Use clues from the story to explain your ideas.
On Monday, Pip the dinosaur arrived at school with a yellow lunchbox. Pip was smaller than the other dinosaurs, and the school gate looked enormous. At lunchtime, Pip sat alone beside the garden and listened to the others laughing near the sandpit.
A little dinosaur called Tilly was trying to carry a watering can. It wobbled from side to side. Pip hurried over and held the handle steady.
“Thanks!” said Tilly. “Would you like to help me water the fern?”
Pip nodded. Together, they gave the thirsty plant a drink. Soon, two more dinosaurs came to help. They made a tiny pond from a puddle and took turns making paper boats sail across it.
When the bell rang, Pip packed away the watering can. The garden still looked small, but Pip no longer felt small. “Tomorrow, let’s make a bigger pond,” said Tilly. Pip smiled all the way back to class.
