Spot and describe

Natural objects are rarely perfect geometric shapes, but geometry helps us describe their forms and patterns.

1.Which object is most like an oval: a smooth leaf, a pebble, or a flower? Choose one and explain what makes it oval-like.

2.A fern leaflet has a roughly triangular outline. How many straight sides and vertices does a triangle have?

3.A regular hexagon has six equal sides and six vertices. Is this statement true or false?

4.A honeycomb pattern is made from hexagons. How many sides does one hexagon have, and what is its name telling you?
