Polar Bears vs Penguins
Meet two animals of icy places
Polar bears live in the far-northern polar region, near the top of the world. Their thick fur helps keep them warm, and its pale colour helps them blend in with snow. Polar bears hunt animals such as seals. A baby polar bear has a short name that rhymes with “tub.” As the climate warms, sea ice melts earlier and forms later. This makes it harder for polar bears to find food. Penguins live in the Southern Hemisphere. Many kinds live in Antarctica, but others live in milder places. Penguins have feathers and strong flippers. They cannot fly through the air, but they use their flippers to swim. Penguins eat sea animals such as fish and krill. A young penguin is called a chick. Warming seas and changes to food supplies can make life harder for some penguins.
