📚 What are Compound Sentences?

A compound sentence joins two complete ideas together using a conjunction (joining word).

Simple sentence: I like pizza.

Simple sentence: My sister likes burgers.

Compound sentence: I like pizza, but my sister likes burgers.

🔗 Conjunctions (Joining Words)

AND - adds information together

• I played football and I scored a goal.

BUT - shows a difference or contrast

• I wanted to go swimming but it started raining.

OR - shows a choice between two things

• We can watch a movie or we can play board games.

BECAUSE - gives a reason or explanation

• I was late to school because I missed the bus.

a) I love chocolate and my mum loves vanilla.

b) The weather was sunny but we stayed inside.

c) You can choose red or you can choose blue.

d) She felt happy because she passed her test.
