📚 Part 1: Prepare for the Spelling Bee

WALT: We Are Learning To recognise Australian English spelling patterns, prefixes and suffixes.

Success criteria: I can identify the correctly spelt word, explain a spelling pattern and check my work carefully.

Dyslexia-friendly option: Read each word aloud, cover all but one option at a time, use a coloured ruler or paper strip, and ask someone to dictate the words slowly.

Helpful strategy: Say the word, clap its syllables, look for a word part you know, spell it aloud, then check it.

🏆 Part 3: Challenge and Reflect

Differentiation: If you need support, practise with syllable breaks, word families and a personal word bank. Try fewer words at a time and have each word dictated twice.

Extension: Choose three challenging words from a dictionary. Record their pronunciation, origin, syllable breaks and a sentence for each word.
