🔬 Part 1: Hypothesis and Experimental Plan

1. Choose ONE variable to test in your paper helicopter experiment:

Weight (adding paperclips)

Wing size (making wings bigger or smaller)

Wing shape (changing the wing design)

2. Write your hypothesis. How do you think your chosen variable will affect the helicopter's flight?

I predict that when I change the _________________, the helicopter will:

3. Describe your experimental plan:

a) What will you change? _________________________________

b) What will you keep the same? (Tick all that apply)

Drop height

Launch style

Paper type

Testing location

4. How many trials will you do for each test? _______ trials

📊 Part 2: Data Collection

5. Record your flight data in the tables below:

Flight Time Data (seconds)

Test Design	Trial 1	Trial 2	Trial 3	Average
Original helicopter
Modified helicopter

Flight Distance Data (centimetres)

Test Design	Trial 1	Trial 2	Trial 3	Average
Original helicopter
Modified helicopter

🤔 Part 3: Data Analysis and Reflection

6. Calculate the average flight time and distance for each helicopter design. Show your working:

7. Was your hypothesis correct?

Yes, my prediction was right

No, something different happened

Partly correct

8. Explain what you discovered about how your chosen variable affects flight:

9. Why do you think this variable had this effect on the helicopter's flight? Think about forces like gravity and air resistance:

10. If you could improve your experiment, what would you change?
