An informative text explains facts or gives information about a topic. It is objective and organised with clear details.

Example: Koalas eat mostly eucalyptus leaves and sleep up to 20 hours a day.

A persuasive text aims to convince the reader to agree or act. It uses opinions, reasons and sometimes emotive language.

Example: We should recycle more at school to reduce waste and protect local wildlife.

A narrative tells a story with characters, a setting and events. It often includes dialogue and a clear sequence.

Example: As the storm began, Mia found an old map that led her to a hidden garden behind the library.

A recount retells events that have already happened, often in chronological order. It records personal or real-life experiences.

Example: Last Saturday I visited the beach. I swam, collected shells and watched the sunset with my family.
