The Great Barrier Reef

Australia's Great Barrier Reef stretches over 2,300 kilometres along the Queensland coast. This incredible ecosystem is home to over 1,500 species of fish, 400 types of coral, and countless other marine animals including sea turtles, dolphins, and sharks.

However, the reef faces serious threats. Rising ocean temperatures cause coral bleaching, where corals lose their vibrant colours and may die. Pollution from farming and coastal development also damages the delicate ecosystem. Scientists and conservationists are working hard to protect this natural wonder for future generations.

Tourism brings millions of visitors each year, providing jobs for local communities whilst also creating challenges for reef preservation.
