Read the short information report below, then complete the tasks.

Sharks are a diverse group of fish known for their cartilaginous skeletons and highly developed senses. Many sharks, such as the great white and tiger shark, are top predators and play a vital role in ocean ecosystems by keeping prey populations balanced. Most sharks give birth to live young or lay leathery eggs, depending on the species. Sharks vary in size from small species under a metre long to the whale shark, which can reach over 10 metres. Although some sharks can be dangerous to people, most species are not a threat and are threatened themselves by overfishing and habitat loss.

8. Inferential conclusions: Write five things you can infer from the report that are not stated word-for-word (for example, why sharks are important to ecosystems).

9. Language features: Identify three language features used in the report (for example: technical vocabulary, present tense, factual tone). Give one example from the text for each feature.
