📝 What is Imagery?

Imagery uses words to paint pictures in the reader's mind. It helps us see, hear, smell, taste, and feel what we're reading about. Writers use similes (comparing with "like" or "as") and metaphors (saying something IS something else) to create powerful images.

Examples:

• Simile: The stars sparkled like diamonds in the night sky.

• Metaphor: Her voice was music to my ears.

1. Choose a sentence starter and complete it with vivid imagery. Use words from the sensory word bank above.
