Fraction Strips and Number Line

Read and write unit fractions with denominators 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10. Use equal parts to locate fractions on a number line, and explain what the numerator and denominator tell us.

Build fraction strips

For each strip, imagine one whole strip divided into the stated number of equal parts. Complete the fraction name, symbol and number of parts in the whole.

Fractions on a number line

A number line from 0 to 1 shows one whole. The marks divide it into ten equal steps. Use the marks to locate and label each fraction.

7.On the number line, label the positions for 1/10, 1/5, 1/4 and 1/2. Fractions may be placed between tenth marks when needed.
