Fraction picnic

Use the fraction models and picnic problems to explore equal parts, equivalent fractions and fractions of amounts.

1.A fruit loaf is cut into 8 equal slices. Maia eats 3 slices. What fraction of the loaf does she eat? Write the fraction using digits.

2.The picnic blanket is divided into 4 equal sections. One section is for games. What fraction of the blanket is for games? What is the denominator telling you?
