Manaia and Finn are preparing a school radio segment about tuatara. Use the fact file and activities to plan a clear factual report. Short notes are fine in the planner; use complete sentences where asked.

Tuatara fact file

Tuatara are reptiles found naturally only in New Zealand. They are not lizards, although they look a little like them. Tuatara live on some islands and in protected places on the mainland. They shelter in burrows, sometimes sharing them with seabirds. They eat insects, spiders and other small animals. Tuatara are usually more active at night, and they grow slowly. Protecting their habitats helps these special reptiles survive.

Understand report writing

A report gives organised information about a topic. It often has a title, an introduction, factual paragraphs with subheadings, and a conclusion. Facts can be grouped by idea, and linking words help ideas flow.
