📚 The Writing Prompt Analysis Model

When you see a writing prompt, use this model to break it down into parts:

1. What is the TASK? (What am I being asked to do?)

Look for action words like: write, describe, explain, imagine, create, tell

2. Who is my AUDIENCE? (Who will read my writing?)

Examples: teacher, classmates, younger students, parents

3. What is my PURPOSE? (Why am I writing this?)

To entertain (story), to inform (explanation), to persuade (opinion)

4. What are the KEY WORDS? (Important words that guide my writing)

Circle or highlight the most important words in the prompt

5. Are there STRUCTURE HINTS? (How should I organise my writing?)

Look for: paragraphs, beginning/middle/end, introduction, conclusion
