Plan your reflection

Think about how weather affects people and how different beliefs explain it.

1.In your own words, explain what this idea means to you: Muslims believe Allah, Al-Qadeer (The All-Powerful), has control over the weather.

2.Choose one way weather affects people in your community, such as growing food, travelling, playing sport or planning outdoor events. Describe the effect.

Write a first draft

Write a paragraph or poem about weather. Include its importance to a community, the Islamic belief that Allah, Al-Qadeer, controls the weather, and a respectful comparison with the idea of performing a rain dance to bring rain. Add descriptive words or a simile or metaphor.

5.Draft your paragraph or poem. You could begin with “Weather matters to people because…” or “When clouds gather, I notice…”. Use your own ideas and wording.

Revise, edit and publish

Reread your draft. Check that your ideas are clear, your comparison is respectful, and your spelling and punctuation are accurate.

6.Use this checklist to review your draft.
