Cursive letter worksheets, A to Z
One worksheet per letter — uppercase, lowercase, joins and a practice word.
What order should you teach cursive letters?
Not alphabetically. Cursive comes fastest when letters are grouped by their starting stroke, so each new letter reuses a movement the hand already knows:
STEP 1
Undercurve letters
i, t, u, w, e, l, b, h, f, k
Start here — they begin with the simplest upward stroke and build early confidence.
STEP 2
Curve/oval letters
a, c, d, g, q, o
All start with the same anticlockwise oval, so they reinforce each other quickly.
STEP 3
Overcurve letters
n, m, v, x, y, z
The 'hump' family — teach after ovals, watching the join back down to the baseline.
STEP 4
Tricky tails
j, p, r, s, f
Descenders and odd joins — save these for last and give them extra practice rows.
