Analyze Learners

• Prior Knowledge:

  • Students have a basic understanding of Philippine history and culture. They have previously read simplified versions of folk tales and legends.

• Knowledge and Comprehension:

  • Students will identify and describe key elements of a selected akdang pampanitikan (literary work), such as characters, setting, and plot.

  • Students will engage in a group activity to dramatize a scene from the text, demonstrating their understanding creatively.

  • Students will analyze how cultural contexts influence the themes and characters in the literary work.

Utilize Media and Materials

1. Introduction (5 minutes):

   • Briefly introduce the literary work and its author. Highlight its cultural and historical significance.
   • Using visual aids, present the story map, outlining key elements (characters, setting, plot).

2. Reading and Group Discussion (10 minutes):

   • Students read a selected passage (in Filipino) aloud in small groups (3-4 students per group).
   • Facilitate a discussion within groups, focusing on comprehension:
     • Who are the main characters?
     • Where does the story take place?
     • What is the main conflict or plot of the passage?

3. Dramatization Activity (10 minutes):

   • Each group selects a scene from their reading to dramatize.
   • Allow students 5 minutes to prepare a short skit. Encourage creativity with dialogue and props.
   • Groups perform their skits in front of the class. Highlight the use of appropriate language and body expressions that reflect their understanding of the text.

4. Reflection and Analysis (5 minutes):

   • Lead a class discussion on how the story reflects aspects of Filipino culture and society.
   • Ask students to provide examples from the text and their dramatizations.
