Lesson Breakdown

1. Warm-Up and Introduction (10 minutes)

• Objective: Activate prior knowledge of vocabulary and grammar structures.
• Teacher briefly reviews target vocabulary and grammar with the class using examples on the whiteboard.
• Conduct a quick oral Q&A where students respond in the target language to simple prompts.

2. Collaborative Script Writing (25 minutes)

• Objective: Write a short skit using the target vocabulary and grammar collaboratively.
• Divide the class into groups of 4-5 students (3 groups total).
• Give each group chart paper or notebooks to brainstorm and write a 2-3 minute skit.
• Encourage inclusion of all vocabulary words and at least 5 imperative sentences.
• Teacher circulates and supports groups with vocabulary, grammar accuracy, and creative ideas.
• Groups rehearse their scripts aloud once finished writing.

3. Recording Performances (20 minutes)

• Objective: Perform and record skits demonstrating oral skills and fluency.
• Each group performs their skit 2 times: once for practice and once for recording.
• Use smartphones or tablets for recording. Students alternate roles to ensure engagement.
• Teacher captures each group’s final performance.

4. Peer Feedback and Reflection (20 minutes)

• Objective: Provide constructive feedback and reflect on speaking and collaboration skills.
• Playback each recorded skit for the class (approximately 5 mins per group including discussion).
• Use a guided peer feedback form:
  • Did the group use the vocabulary and grammar correctly?
  • How was their pronunciation and expression?
  • What did they do well? What can improve?
• Each group reflects on feedback and shares one thing they learned about speaking in the target language.

5. Closing and Homework (5 minutes)

• Summarize the importance of collaborative writing and oral practice.
• Assign a short reflection journal for homework: Describe what they enjoyed about performing and what they found challenging in the target language.
