Lesson Timeline

1. Introduction and Warm-Up (10 minutes)

• Begin with a brief personal greeting in Spanish to set the tone.
• Write all seven days of the week on the whiteboard in Spanish: lunes, martes, miércoles, jueves, viernes, sábado, domingo.
• Play a quick pronunciation game where the teacher says the day, and the class repeats chorally then choral spelling (spell aloud).
• Show flashcards with both the word and a small icon that represents a unique trait of each day (e.g., sun for domingo).

Objective: Activate prior knowledge and familiarize students with the vocabulary.

2. Flashcard Sentence Creation Activity (15 minutes)

• Shuffle the day flashcards and daily activity flashcards.
• Students take turns drawing one day card and one daily activity card.
• Each student must create and say a simple sentence in Spanish, for example:
  • “El lunes, yo estudio.” (On Monday, I study.)
  • “El sábado, yo duermo.” (On Saturday, I sleep.)
• Provide sentence starters on the board to scaffold participation:
