Students read one another’s drafts and complete the worksheet checklist: underline the claim, star evidence, circle a systems connection, and write one “glow” and one specific “grow.” Partners also check whether the proposed response is realistic and whether the alternate viewpoint is clearly acknowledged.
44–54 min · Oral briefings and revision. Teacher displays the oral briefing and discussion prompt slides and invites students to deliver 45-second briefings in six pairs, with one student presenting while the partner listens for evidence and then switching roles. Each briefing states the environmental change, explains a systems relationship, recommends a response, and acknowledges another perspective. Students revise one sentence or add one piece of evidence after presenting.
54–60 min · Synthesis and exit ticket. Teacher returns to the opening question and facilitates a short discussion about why Earth systems should be considered together. Students complete the final section of the evidence-based solution organizer: “My strongest evidence is ___ because ___,” and “One revision I made was ___.” Collect the worksheets as the exit assessment.
