Introduction (2 minutes)

  1. Greeting and Warm-up:

    • Welcome them enthusiastically.
    • Engage them in a quick warm-up where they shake their arms, wiggle their fingers, stomp their feet, and stretch high up to the sky.
  2. Explain Objectives:

    • Inform students that today they will be practicing hopping, skipping, and jumping.
    • Demonstrate each action clearly:
      • Hopping: show using one foot.
      • Skipping: a step-hop motion alternating feet.
      • Jumping: two feet leaving the ground simultaneously.

Activity 1: Hopscotch Fun (3 minutes)

    • Place poly spots in a line, spaced a few feet apart.
  2. Instructions:

    • Assist any students who might need help with their balance.

Activity 2: Skipping Parade (3 minutes)

  1. Set-up:

    • Use a cone or marker to indicate a "start" and "end" point in the space.
  2. Instructions:

    • Play upbeat music for this activity.
    • Students will skip from the start point to the end point, then come back and tag the next student to go.
  3. Execution:

    • Make sure each student gets at least one turn.
    • Emphasize the rhythm of the skip (step-hop).

Activity 3: Jumping Hoops (3 minutes)

  1. Set-up:

    • Place colorful hoops in a zigzag pattern around the play area.
  2. Instructions:

    • Students will jump with both feet together from one hoop to the next.
  3. Execution:

    • Encourage students to keep their feet together.
    • If needed, demonstrate how to land softly with bent knees.

Cool Down (2 minutes)

  1. Breathing Exercise:

    • Gather students back in a circle.
    • Lead them in a deep breathing exercise: breathe in through the nose, hold for 2 seconds, then breathe out through the mouth. Repeat 3 times.
  2. Stretching:

    • Have students sit down and stretch their legs out in front of them.
    • Reach towards their toes and hold for 5 seconds (remind them it's okay if they can't reach).

Reflection

  • Ask the students how they felt about the activities.
  • Highlight any observations of effort or improvement.

Closing

  • Praise the students for their effort and participation.
