Unit: Rising Leaders: Cultivating Leadership Skills Lesson 4 of 28

Lesson Description

Students engage in role-playing and interactive case studies to explore leadership responsibilities. They will act out mock scenarios that simulate leadership challenges, discuss and debate choices made by leaders, and work collaboratively to create short skits that demonstrate responsible leadership decisions. This hands-on, theater-based approach fosters empathy, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills, aligned with Common Core expectations for speaking, listening, and social-emotional learning competencies.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

• Understand the meaning of "Responsibility" as being accountable for one's actions and duties.
• Recognize that each team member needs to be responsible for their role to ensure successful leadership and collaboration.
• Identify key responsibilities of a leader in various age-appropriate scenarios.
• Collaborate with peers to analyze situations requiring leadership decisions.
• Demonstrate effective communication and respectful debate skills when discussing leadership choices.
• Create and perform short skits that showcase responsible leadership in relatable contexts.
