Lesson structure (30 minutes)

  1. 0–3 min · Hook and learning intention. Teacher opens the hook and learning intention slides with a visual comparison of a very long pencil and a short pencil, then says, “Today we are learning: I can compare how long or tall things are.” Students look closely, turn to a partner, and point to the longer or shorter object.

  2. 3–8 min · I do: model fair comparison. Teacher shows two classroom objects, such as pencils, and deliberately places them unevenly before correcting the position by lining up their ends; teacher models the sentence, “This pencil is longer. This pencil is shorter.” Students watch, copy the hand motion for lining up ends, and repeat the comparison words.
