Objective

Materials

• Variety of simple musical instruments (drums, tambourines, maracas, triangles, xylophones, etc.)

• Audio system to play examples of various musical instruments

Lesson Plan

1. Introduction (5 minutes)

• Objective: Students understand the connection between music and art.
• Activity: Begin by playing a short piece of instrumental music. Ask students how the music makes them feel and what images or stories come to mind.
• Discussion: Lead a brief discussion on how music can express emotions and tell stories without words, similar to visual art.

2. Demonstration (10 minutes)

• Objective: Students understand the basics of different musical instruments.
• Activity: Display a variety of musical instruments. Demonstrate how each one produces sound and explain their characteristics.
• Engagement: Allow students to ask questions and, if time permits, let a few volunteers try playing an instrument.

3. Exploring Sound (10 minutes)

• Objective: Students experiment with instruments to discover the sounds they can create.
• Activity: Divide the class into small groups, giving each group a set of instruments. Encourage students to explore and play the instruments, focusing on the different sounds they can create.
• Reflection: Have students discuss within their groups what sounds they made and how those sounds made them feel.

4. Creating Art to Music (10 minutes)

• Objective: Students create visual art inspired by musical sounds.
