Project Proposal Development

Overview

This 30-minute lesson engages 3rd-5th grade students in beginning the drafting of their project proposals for “Innovative Solutions for Communities.” Students will organize and outline their innovative ideas clearly, including objectives, target audience, and community impact through collaborative and individual activities. The lesson aligns with Common Core State Standards by focusing on informational writing, speaking and listening skills, and critical thinking.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

• Draft a clear outline of a project proposal that describes an innovative solution to a community problem.
• Identify and articulate the objectives, target audience, and potential community impact of their project.
• Collaborate with peers to give and receive feedback to improve their proposal outline.
