Objectives

Procedure

Introduction (2 minutes)

1. Greeting and Warm-Up:
   • Greet the students warmly and ask them to sit in a circle.
   • Use a quick song or rhyme to get them excited about the lesson. For example, "Shapes, Shapes Everywhere," a simple tune about different shapes.

Main Activity (10 minutes)

1. Exploration with Objects:

   • Show the students the bag filled with different objects.
   • Explain that they will explore and identify different objects from the bag.
   • Pull out one object at a time and ask students:
     • "What shape is this?"
     • "Is it big or small?"
     • "Is it smooth or rough?"
   • Allow each student to pull an object from the bag and describe it in simple terms.

2. Poster Board Activity:

   • Display the poster board with various shapes and sizes of objects.
   • Call out descriptions (e.g., "Find a big circle," "Find a small square") and ask students to point to the correct object.
   • Discuss the differences as a group (e.g., "This circle is big, this one is small. They are both circles but of different sizes.").

3. Flashcard Sorting:

   • Give each student a set of flashcards with different objects.
   • Ask them to sort the cards by size or shape.
   • Walk around to assist and encourage discussions about the differences they observe.

Conclusion (3 minutes)

1. Review and Questions:

   • Gather the students back into a circle.
   • Review the key concepts discussed: different shapes, sizes, and textures.
   • Ask open-ended questions like, "What did you learn about shapes today?" or "Can you find something in the room that is a circle?"

2. Coloring Activity (if time permits):

   • Hand out coloring materials and a worksheet with various shapes for each child to color.
   • Encourage them to use specific colors for different shapes to reinforce the lesson.
