Lesson Procedure

1. Introduction (5 minutes)

• Begin with a brief review of Hebrew roots and binyanim learned in previous lessons (Lessons 1 and 2). Highlight 3-4 common roots and corresponding binyanim verbs on the board.
• Explain that today’s focus is creating meaningful, simple sentences using those verbs.
• Model 2 examples aloud: write the Hebrew verb root, select the binyan, then form a simple sentence with it, translating into English for clarity.

2. Pair Activity: Sentence Construction (15 minutes)

• Organize students into pairs (10 pairs total).
• Distribute the sentence-building worksheet. The worksheet includes:
  • A list of Hebrew roots and their binyanim
  • Verb suffix templates for conjugation
  • Sentence starters with blanks to fill in verbs correctly
• Instructions for pairs:
  • Choose 3 verbs from the list.
  • Conjugate each correctly and use it to complete the sentence starters with a simple, coherent Hebrew sentence.
  • Write both the Hebrew sentence and its English translation.
• Teacher circulates to assist pairs with pronunciation, conjugation, and sentence structure as needed.

3. Sharing & Speaking (8 minutes)

• Invite pairs to share one sentence aloud with the class.
• Encourage clear pronunciation, correct verb usage, and explain the meaning briefly.
• After each presentation, allow 1-2 questions or comments from classmates to foster discussion.

4. Wrap-Up & Quick Assessment (2 minutes)

• Summarize key points:
  • Importance of roots and binyanim in sentence building
  • Role of context in choosing correct verb form
• Quick formative assessment: Call out a Hebrew root and binyan, and ask a volunteer to form a simple sentence orally on the spot.
• Praise efforts and preview next lesson (Lesson 4: Complex sentence building with connectors).
