Seasons and Days

Objective

By the end of this 2-minute lesson, students will be able to:

• Identify and pronounce the days of the week and seasons in French.
• Use these terms in basic sentences.

Activities Outline (2 minutes total)

0:00 - 0:30	Warm-Up & Introduction	Briefly greet students in French and say days of the week and seasons aloud with accompanying visuals. Pronounce slowly and clearly to model proper pronunciation. This engages auditory and visual learners.
0:30 - 1:15	Choral Repetition	Have students repeat the days and seasons aloud in unison, focusing on correct pronunciation. Then ask randomly for individual students to say one day or one season on their own to build confidence.
1:15 - 1:50	Sentence Mini-Use	Teacher says a simple sentence in French, e.g., "Aujourd’hui, c’est lundi." or "En hiver, il fait froid." Students listen and quickly translate mentally. Then, prompt volunteers to say a sentence using either a day or season in French, encouraging creativity.
1:50 - 2:00	Exit Prompt	Quickly, each student says aloud one day and one season in French as a check-in before dismissal. This serves as informal formative assessment.

Assessment

• Informal formative assessment through observed repetition and sentence creation.
• Teacher notes student pronunciation and ability to form simple statements.

Notes for Teacher

• Keep the pace brisk and engaging due to time constraint, but maintain patience on pronunciation.
• Use student names to call on them individually to increase engagement.
• Encourage enthusiastic participation by praising even small attempts.
• Reinforce cultural aspect by briefly mentioning that the French week starts on Monday (lundi).
