  5. 38–48 min · Geographic questions Teacher models turning an observation into a geographic question: “There are many roads near the river” becomes “Why were roads built near the river?” Use the question stems and discussion prompts to provide question starters such as “Where…?”, “Why…?”, “How do people…?”, and “How might this place change…?” Students write two questions about the sources, choose their strongest question, and exchange it with another group for feedback.
