Inclusion Reflection Worksheet

Read the dance competition scenario, then explore what inclusion looks and sounds like. Some questions have more than one reasonable answer. The answers shown are examples; your own reflection may be different. You may write about the scenario instead of sharing a personal experience.

The competition scenario

Ngaio, Zoe and Levi are preparing a group dance for a local competition. At the first rehearsal, Zoe suggests that everyone add a move to the routine. Levi says, “We don’t have time for everyone’s ideas,” and starts choosing moves without asking the rest of the group. Ngaio has an ankle injury and is temporarily avoiding jumps. When Ngaio suggests a seated movement that could fit the music, Levi says, “That won’t look like real dancing.” Zoe pauses the rehearsal and asks the group to listen to Ngaio’s idea and work out a version that feels safe and works for the team. They agree to test several options and check that everyone is comfortable with the final routine.
