A Night Under the Stars
Toad spread a blanket beside the pond and looked up at the evening sky. “I wanted to see the stars, but clouds are covering them,” he sighed. Frog sat beside his friend. “Let’s wait a little,” he said. “The wind may move the clouds.” As they waited, Toad noticed a small lantern glowing near the path. A firefly had flown inside the glass lantern and could not find its way out. Toad carefully lifted the lantern’s lid. The firefly zipped into the air and blinked brightly above them. “Look!” said Frog. “The clouds are moving, too.” A patch of dark sky appeared, and a cluster of stars shone through. Toad smiled. “I thought our evening was ruined, but we found something wonderful while we waited.” Frog nodded. “Sometimes being patient helps us notice more than we expected.” The two friends stayed on the blanket, watching the firefly and the stars until it was time to go home.
